Jan. 1, 2007 - Akebono's group of companies has decided to begin taking the necessary steps to establish themselves with a common identity worldwide. One of the first steps to achieving this goal is to strengthen the synergy through name commonality. On January 1, 2007, Akebono Corporation (North America) will begin operating under the name Akebono Brake Corporation at its recently relocated headquarters in Elizabethtown, KY. This corporate change more closely ties North America with the parent company, Akebono Brake Industry Co, LTD which was founded in 1929.
